day ride

A day ride.

Evening Ride South - Thursday 3rd December

Thu, 3 Dec 2015 18:00 to Fri, 4 Dec 2015 17:30

This evening ride takes us south. The royal is too busy on the weekends to be worth a visit but of a weekday evening it's nice and clear (at least after Bundeena). The plan is to cut down through the park, through Stanwell and on to Scarborough pub for a feed. On the way home you can either do the park at night being careful of wildlife, or scoot up the Hwy back to Sydney.

Please contact us if you are interested in this event.

The Not One Damn Ferry Ride - Or The BBBB (Breakfast/Brunch Bridge to Bridge)

Sun, 8 Nov 2015 00:00 to 23:30

Not 5 ferries, not 4, not 3, not 2, not even 1. We will ride past them all - bloody ingrates. During the past I've had a somewhat tumultuous relationship with the 5 ferries ride. This time I’ve decided to hell with ‘em all. This time I’ll plan the ride on a bridge to bridge ski race weekend on purpose so we can’t do any of them even if we wanted to.

The plan is to stick to the north side of the Hawkesbury River the whole way around to Windsor. Leaving from Berowra, stopping briefly to watch a few boats zoom past at a viewing point near Mt White, breakfast at Mt White or the Corrugated Café or Spencer at a stretch, your call, then continuing around through St Albans, Lower Portland to Windsor, probably finishing around 12:30-1. We might stop off occasionally to watch more boats blat past if we can time it, and they’re not boring. There are plenty of options to head off to make a longer day of it if you want.

Note: There is at least 20km’s of dirt on this ride

Please contact us if you are interested in this event.

Evening Old Road Ride

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 18:00 to Fri, 16 Oct 2015 17:30

The first evening ride of the year. Just a short blat up the old road to either Calga or Somersby depending on time and inclination, returning to Brooklyn for dinner at the Anglers restaurant/pub (meals $20-35).

It's probably a little early in the season as sunset is at 7:10 and last light 7:33* so we'll need to get away at 6:30 sharp.

It seems civil twilight ends at 7:33, nautical twilight however ends 30mins later so since we're stopping next to the water we could choose that. If you're an astral traveller you'll get another 30mins on top of astonomical twilight.

Please contact us if you are interested in this event.

Sat, 29 Nov 2014 09:30

Come ye merry gentlemen and gentlewomen on a causal ride to our Christmas party. The plan is for a nice cruisey ride, a late lunch and to arrive at Swansea early enough to take a quick swim at the beach before the festivities start.

Meet: Shell (not the 7-11) petrol station Berowra 9:30 for 10am

Route: Berowra Ferry, Wisemans Ferry, Kulnura, back roads (to avoid the hwy) over to Doyalson, Catherine Hill Bay pub for a late lunch, then it's only about 10km up to where we're staying.

About 180km, 3.5 to 4 hours.

Great Southern Loop or Liz’s study freely day ride

Sun, 15 Jun 2014 08:00 to Mon, 16 Jun 2014 07:30

2 hour breakfasts, tea breaks, house discussions, afternoon…naps. Apparently they don’t focus the mind to aid study, they’re just distractions. Whooda thunk. So with Liz’s impending exams, and in the interests of marital bliss and academic over achievement, I’m being evicted for the day and for as long a day as possible. I guess being told to go for a ride isn’t the worst rejection one could endure.

It’s one of the shortest days of the year and so the perfect day to jam in a nice long ride. The plan is to do Macquarie Pass, Kangaroo Valley, Nerriga, Oallen Ford, Bungonia and Exeter. That’s about 500km for the day. I’d love to try and fit in Taralga-Oberon-Bells as well but the extra 100 odd kay may be a little much. Let’s see how we go on the day and who turns up. We will need to keep motoring. The longest distance without fuel is 150km. The last time I did the Oallen Ford Rd there was about 3km of dirt left - without an alternative. We’ll lunch at Nerriga Pub, otherwise just fuel stops and regroups. No 2 hour breakfasts, tea breaks, house discussions, afternoon…naps

Please contact us if you are interested in this event.
