Do you fancy riding through the snowies this October long weekend? This is not only a chance to get in an extra days riding - it's a chance to ride the beautiful snowy mountains roads which officially re-open on the October long weekend. If we're lucky these fabulous roads will be lined with snow. We'll do angels in the snow, make a snowman even. Yes, the 2016 October long weekend is a Walls of Snow!! But for those that are scared of a little bit of cold, there are warmer route options available (you know who you are).

TTT Rally, 27th, 28th August.

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 09:30 to Mon, 29 Aug 2016 03:30

Thrashers Terrifying Trek rolls around again.  To be honest, it's really not that terrifying, or even mildly scary, unless you hit an erosion hump, or enter a corner a little fast and sail off into the bush.  Even with a little wet on the roadies last year was fun.

Held on Thrashers property in the wilds nth of Wombeyan Caves approx. 200km southwest of Sydney. The roads to the rally are a combination of some great scenic and good fanging dirt roads and then about 25km of easy fire trails. Great for adventure bikes and doable on a roadie if you like the dirt.  The land the rally is on is surrounded by national park and catchment area.

Its a back to basics rally with a glass of port (or more if your game) on arrival.  Wood and water is supplied.  BYO food, booze and all your camping gear.  There's usually a final stop for supplies in Mittagong.

A ride for the heart at Young, 20/21st August.

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 00:00 to Sun, 21 Aug 2016 23:30

"You're only (in) Young once", and so this may well be your last chance to visit this old country town in the undulating countryside of the south west slopes.  Paul is organising an around about ride taking in some of the great winding country roads down that way with a bit of easy dirt thrown in (avoidable if you want).  Starting from Pheasants Nest, taking the dirt through Canyonleigh and Brayton, cutting up to Crookwell for coffee.  Along the Rugby twisties, through Rye Park to Borowa, then south through Galong, McMahons Reef and down the racetrack to Jugiong for lunch.  North up the Jugiong road to Harden then a lovely backroad into Young.  It's a great time of year to head west.

Dargo High Plains Rally

Fri, 9 Sep 2016 00:00 to Mon, 12 Sep 2016 23:30

It's been years since we've been to the Dargo High Plains Rally and the prez and her loyal subject, runs co-ordinator man, are planning on going.

The Dargo High Plains Rally is actually not on the high plains but nestled deep in a valley off the Dargo High Plains Road south of Dinner Plains, at Talbotville, an old gold mining location.  It's a lovely open grassy site with steep terrain all around.  You do have to go through the  spectacular high plains to get there which include lots of dirt and/or tar twisties.  There are lots of route options with just 10km of dirt if you want)

Please contact us if you are interested in this event.

Dirt Explore around Burralow Ck, Weenie Ck, Wheelbarrow Ridge, 10th July

Exploring some of the closest dirt roads to the city.  Heading from Kurrajong Heights, Burralow Ck and up Pattersons Ridge Fire Trail to Bilpin, down Mountain Lagoon Road which reopened a year or so ago, probably down to Weenie Ck and back, probably heading up to Colo Heights via the pretty back road that winds up a back valley, then Wheelbarrow Ridge road and track to either Wisemans or Lower Portland.

Christmas in July - Hill End - 16th July.

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 09:30 to Mon, 18 Jul 2016 15:30

Christmas in July this year is at the Hill End Lodge organised by VeeBee

Most people know Hill End but I've found a few recently that have never been so... Hill End is an old Gold Mining town with a lot of history to explore.  There are fantastic back country twisty roads around and dirt if it takes your fancy. Plus it should be suitably chilli at night for a cosy Chrissy in July dinner.  We're leaving at 9:30 to allow time for to explore the town which is well worth a look, but It's close enough to Sydney to make it a late start if you prefer (It's about 220km from Sydney, 240 with some extra twisties.).

The lodge are putting on a traditional Chrissy dinner with full on ham roast and turkey, chrstimas pudding and entree for $58/head.  Continental Breaky is included, $10 for cooked or we can head into the General Store for a late breaky and strong brewed coffee.

Please contact us if you are interested in this event.

July General Meeting - CHANGE OF VENUE!!

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 19:30

The general meeting is moving!  We are in need of a general meeting makeover so we’re going back to PJ Gallaghers in Drummoyne - now known as the Oxford Hotel.  It worked well in the past and now that their renos are finished we are giving it another go.  We will keep the focus about rides and riding (in particular October long weekend planning) and also discuss last minute preps for the Boree Log.  Come early for dinner in the bar, then join us in The Residence (fancy name for a meeting room) at 7.30pm.

Where:  Oxford Hotel, 195 Victoria Road, Drummoyne

Please contact us if you are interested in this event.
